Arts
We offer a strong program in the Arts, including music, dance, drama and media. The program helps develop students’ creativity, confidence, cultural knowledge and critical thinking.
Our program includes:
- participating in Wakakirri for the Year 5 to 6 students
- regular assembly dance performances and participating in an end-of-year class performance
Physical Education
Students can develop team play and team building skills through our specialist sports program. The program is run by a specialist teacher and volunteer parent coaches. Our program includes:
- SAPSASA events
- team sports (cricket, Aussie Rules football, soccer, netball, volleyball, tennis and basketball)
- sports day
- water safety swimming and aquatics lessons.
Languages
German is our language of study for all students. Each class has a 55 minute lesson per week, which helps students learn to speak the language and understand German culture.
Some of the things the German program includes is:
- learning about German art, dance and music
- celebrating German events
- the Yr 6s visiting Hahndorf
Learning a language:
- helps students gain a broader cultural perspective
- opens up career pathways
- promotes social cohesion and cross-cultural understanding.
Humanities and Social Sciences
Every class receives a HASS lesson from a specialist teacher. Depending on the year level, the classroom teacher also provides a lesson. HASS is made up of History, Geography, Civics and Citizenship, and Economics and Business.
HASS helps students to develop:
- Critical thinking: Helps students question, think critically, and solve problems
- Communication: Helps students communicate effectively
- Decision making: Helps students make informed decisions
- Adaptability: Helps students adapt to change
- Appreciation for diversity: Helps students appreciate social, cultural, and religious diversity
